2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp butter
2 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
12 oz (or 1 bag) semisweet chocolate chips

Add the salt even if you are using salted butter. It will help brighten this recipe up.
Also, as I think about this recipe, I’m guessing the intent of the original recipe was to have the additional 14 cup flour and 2 Tbsp butter be used for greasing the pan. You can try cutting those back to round numbers, if you want.
