Cinnamon Swirl Danish
Fancy-looking pastry filled with cinnamon cream cheese. A lovely breakfast treat to share over coffee, and easy to make, especially if you don't try to follow the recipe instructions, the way I did.

8 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup plus 1 TBSP granulated sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 17.5 oz puff pastry sheet
2 TBSP unsalted butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 TBSP milk or heavy cream
3 drops almond extract (optional)

Nonstick cooking spray

Set cream cheese out to soften
Set puff pastry sheet in fridge to defrost (NOTE: microwave defrosting instructions included in podcast)
Preheat oven to 350°
Grease round cake pan with nonstick spray
Additional Notes
This pastry is impressive to present and tastes good, but the center pastry will be moist, not crispy and flaky like the outside of the danish.
