Cindy’s Most Excellent Grilled Cheese : A Cookalong Original
Crispy, buttery, melty, drippy, stretchy, cheesy. Here are my tips for an above and beyond grilled cheese sandwich.

Ingredients

2 slices bread of your choice
2 Tbsp butter, room temperature
1-1½ Tbsp grated or shredded parmesan cheese
1-2 slices Kraft Deli-Deluxe American Cheese
1 cup shredded extra-sharp cheddar (Trader Joe’s Unexpected Cheddar is highly recommended)
1 slice stretchy cheese of your choice: Provolone, Havarti, Mozzarella, Gruyere, or…?

Non-stick or well-seasoned cast iron skillet with lid
Sturdy spatula

Let butter come to room temp
Freeze the bread you will be using (optional)
Additional Notes
After the outside has browned a bit and you’ve put the sandwich together, add a healthy sprinkle of grated sharp cheddar to the empty side of the pan, then flip the sandwich over onto the cheese. Wait a few minutes for that to brown and for all the inside cheese to be super melty, then flip the sandwich onto a plate with the cheese-coated side up. Best grilled cheese sandwich you’ll ever make.
